Triple Warmer

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this meridian, known as San Jiao, Triple Heater, or Triple Burner, is one of the Yang meridians in FIre element.

In Donna Eden’s method, this meridian takes on a significance not understood by Chinese Medicine. Donna elevates it to the status of Radiant Circuit, and she considers it the guard of habits and the general of the body’s defenses. Its propensity is to go to war against anything unfamiliar, which in modern society includes preservatives in food, packaging materials, EMF’s, pollutants, media images; basically anything that did not exist before industrialization.

Triple Warmer calls on all the body’s energies to maintain its defensive stance. Imbalance in Triple Warmer is implicated in allergies, obesity, autoimmune diseases of all kinds including Depression and Diabetes. In fact, Donna discovered its important role through healing herself of Multiple Sclerosis.

What can happen is that an illness or situation can cause Triple Warmer to activate, so that all the body’s resources can be drawn upon to fight the illness. The Fight, Flight or Freeze response necessary to our survival is organized through Triple Warmer. Once it has mounted this response, however, often it is unable to let go, and the body stays in a habit of alarm. Much of the Eden Method involves retraining the Triple Warmer system to act for our well-being instead of only for our survival.

When activated as a Radiant Circuit, Triple Warmer creates peace and tranquility, a sense of safety and security, and permits well-being to become the standard condition.

There are many balancing exercises involving Triple Warmer, and most of them are about calming or relaxing it. The Triple Warmer Smoothie is a favorite of Donna’s. Cover the Eyes helps to balance TW and Spleen meridians. The Triple Warmer Reactivity Pose is often helpful, and the Triple Warmer Neurovascular Hold is deeply calming.
